Panthers CB Josh Norman shows off pony dance after pick-six (Video)
Josh Norman had some sick moves to celebrate his big pick-six for the Panthers
The Carolina Panthers defense was going to have to dominate in Week One against the Jacksonville Jaguars given their injury struggles on offense coming into the game. A concussion suffered by star linebacker Luke Kuechly made that job much harder for the defense, but cornerback Josh Norman was able to make the big play necessary.
During the third quarter, Norman picked off Blake Bortles (as many have before) and proceeded to take the open road to the end zone. It was after he scored that the magic really started as Norman then broke out the pony dance to celebrate his individual accomplishments:
Happy Gilmore would be so proud.
Norman’s form on the pony dance was impeccable. The gallop was a subtle yet distinct movement, as was using the football as the reigns to hold onto. That’s an A-plus effort if I’ve ever seen it.
More important is that the pony dance was warranted for the moment. The Jags and Panthers had been in a heated battle up to that point, but Norman’s pick-six put Carolina ahead 17-9 in the second half, giving them a big advantage. In the end, it could be the pony dance and what led to it that ultimately gives the Panthers a 1-0 start to the season.
