Broncos defeat Ravens 19-13 thanks to interceptions: Full highlights, final score and more
By Mike Dyce
The Denver Broncos edged the Baltimore Ravens thanks to a couple key interceptions.
The Denver Broncos opened the season by welcoming the Baltimore Ravens to Sports Authority Field at Mile High. It had the pregame hype of a game between two teams who could be contending for a Super Bowl.
The game was rather ugly and neither team looked daunting to the rest of the league. The first half ended with the Broncos leading 9-3 in a first half that consisted of only field goals.
Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, in particular, looked awful, many speculating that he was finally showing his age on the field. On the first drive of the second half, Manning threw a short pass intended for Jordan Norwood but the Ravens’ Jimmy Smith picked it off and returned it for a touchdown.
At the end of the third quarter, Joe Flacco returned the favor throwing a pass that was picked off by Broncos’ Aqib Talib and returned 51 yards for the touchdown, which gave the Broncos the lead again.
Brandon McManus added a field goal late in the fourth quarter to extend the Broncos lead to 19-13. The Ravens were driving late in the game and within striking distance of the end zone, but a Darian Stewart ended the Ravens’ hopes of a win with about 30 seconds left in the game.

Next Week
Next week the Ravens continue their West Coast tour by playing the Oakland Raiders in northern California. The Ravens should have a favorable matchup against Raiders, who were blown out at home by the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Broncos head to Arrowhead Stadium to take on their divisional rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs looked formidable in their season opener against the Houston Texans and should be a tough game for Manning and company.
