You’ve never seen a fumble recovery like this one between the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins.
In a study on how NOT to recover a fumble, the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins seemed more like a comedic circus act than two professional football teams early in the third quarter. The scene even included a backwards somersault by Ryan Tannehill as the two teams ineptly attempted to recover the loose ball.
Check it out for yourself:
If you were keeping count, the Dolphins fumbled the ball three separate times on the same play starting with the acrobatic quarterback Tannehill getting stripped of the ball as he was sacked near the Redskins’ 22-yard line. Yes, the Dolphins were in scoring position when this went down.
Then Brandon Albert attempted to recover the ball. It appeared, for a few tenths of a second, that he was successful. But, no! The ball was loose again. Maybe right tackle Ja’wuan James will recover it? Again, the answer is “nope.”
Finally, what appeared to be a well-choreographed comedy routine ended when the Redskins recovered the ball on the Miami 40-yard-line. In a lucky break for Miami, the Redskins were not able to score points off of that turnover.
With a few minutes left in the third quarter, the Redskins, led by Kirk Cousins, are leading 10-7.
