It didn’t take long for Seattle Seahawks rookie Tyler Lockett to return the first punt for a touchdown of the NFL season.
The Seattle Seahawks picked up Tyler Lockett in the NFL Draft this year with the idea that he’d help open up the offense — but he’s leaving an impact on special teams.
Lockett returned the first punt for a touchdown of the season against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday afternoon. We saw flashes of this in the preseason, but now that games finally count it appears that Lockett hasn’t lost any of his luster.
Just watch, as we may have our newest special teams superstar in the NFL.
Tyler Lockett.

Calling him a superstar already is a bold statement, but it’s not hard to picture Lockett at the very least being one of the most exciting rookies of the season. The only question is can he contribute on offense, as we’ve seen exciting receivers make big plays on special teams before — like Cordarrelle Patterson with the Vikings — and then fall off.
