Word inside WWE is that the current Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Wyatt Family angle could lead to a Reigns heel turn
Roman Reigns has clearly been the golden boy in WWE for quite some time. Before Seth Rollins cashed in his Money In the Bank Contract at WrestleMania 31, it was obvious after Reigns’ win in the Royal Rumble that WWE was planning to put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Reigns and give him a major main event push. It’s also clear that the fans didn’t want that, turned on Reigns, and forced WWE creative to go in another direction.
However, Vince McMahon isn’t one to give up on someone like Reigns and the fact that Reigns is still hugely important in the eyes of WWE is obvious considering his booking since ‘Mania. According to F4WOnline.com, it seems that a heel turn might be the next thing in line for Reigns.
F4WOnline.com is reporting that there is word within WWE that the current storyline involving Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and the Wyatt Family could eventually wind up with Reigns turning heel. How that would happen would involve the third member who will be added to Reigns’ and Ambrose’s team to face the Wyatts at the upcoming Night of Champions.
If a Reigns heel turn is the direction that creative decides to go, the word is that Ambrose would try and recruit Jimmy Uso, Reigns’ cousin, to help battle Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Braun Strowman. As the Wyatts have done with other possible partners in recent weeks, they would in turn take Uso out. Playing up the family aspect, Reigns would blame Ambrose for his cousin being assaulted by the Wyatts, take it out on Ambrose and effectively turn heel.
Despite still getting negative crowd reactions from fans, Reigns has continually improved in the ring in recent months and—at least alongside Ambrose—has shown some baby steps taken forward in terms of his promo ability. A heel turn might actually be the best answer for Reigns given his current situation. It would allow fans to look at him without seeing the company trying to force him down their throats and instead see his improvement and the fact that he may indeed be ready for a main event type push.
Nothing is set in stone regarding Reigns or his current storyline with Ambrose and the Wyatt Family. However, there is at least talk of a Reigns heel turn as of right now. If WWE is wise in trying to give Reigns the spotlight, they’ll follow through with those plans. It’s the best option for Reigns as a performer and the company as a whole.
