The Champions League returns this afternoon when Manchester City play host to Juventus in the Etihad Stadium

This is a day that every soccer fan around the world is happy to see back, it’s the day the Champions League returns to our screen in proper. None of this qualifier nonsense, we’re back in the group stages and the biggest teams in Europe are on show. There is a lot to look forward to this year as it’s bound to be yet another terrific season.

Manchester City are at home to last year’s finalists Juventus and the English side will be looking to put down a marker this afternoon. The sky blues have been less than impressive in Europe since returning to the competition some years ago, but their domestic performance thus far this season have their fans purring with excitement.

Today’s opponents come in to the game in stark contrast in regards to form. The Italians are yet to register a win in the Serie A, drawing one and losing two. Compare that to Manchester City’s incredible five out of five wins, form that’s made all the more impressive by the fact that they haven’t conceded a goal this season.
