Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez scored for Bayer Leverkusen, the third team he’s scored for in the Champions League

Javier Hernandez, the Mexican footballer better known as Chicharito, made his debut for Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen just this weekend. On Wednesday he was in the lineup for their first Champions League match against BATE Borisov and the 27-year-old was back to his old ways in the competition.

With Leverkusen firmly ahead 2-1, Chicharito made a breaking run towards goal down the middle of the field and was met with a beautiful through ball. From there, the accomplished finisher neatly nutmegged the keeper and put his effort comfortably into the back of the net:

The goal gave Leverkusen a 3-1 lead in the match and was Chicharito’s first since joining the club. Possibly more impressive is that this is the third club that the Mexican forward has scored for in the Champions League. During his time with Manchester United and during last season while on loan with Real Madrid, Chicharito notched Champions League goals.

He’s always been talented and a huge part of Mexican national football, but when it comes to club competitions, it’s safe to say that Chicharito is never more sure to get on the score sheet than if it’s a Champions League match.
