Kobe Bryant makes a brief appearance in the latest FIFA 16 trailer

FIFA 16 is one of the most anticipated sports video game releases of the year, set to hit stores on Sept. 22. With women’s national teams being included for the first time in the franchise, the game is expanding their horizons in a big way. Apparently that expansion of horizons also includes part of the NBA, Kobe Bryant specifically, appearing in the game’s latest trailer.

As part of their “Play Beautiful” campaign for the game, EA Sports showed clips of gameplay spliced with real-life instances of skill. One of those real-life clips happened to be Kobe kicking a full-court shot that, of course, dropped through the bottom of the net:

Yeah, there’s a pretty good chance that Kobe didn’t actually due that and that the whole kicking-in-a-full-court-shot move isn’t regularly in his arsenal. However, it’s still an unexpected, yet delightful cameo from the NBA superstar in the trailer for a soccer game.

Kobe has proven to be a vocal fan of the beautiful game over the years, including consistent support of the United States Men’s and Women’s National Teams. Subsequently, it’s not surprising that he would get the call to put his stamp of approval on the game by being a part of an ad. Now if only he were an unlockable player in FIFA 16, then everything would be complete.
