Chris Long mistaken for Jake Long; blames ‘jerks’ at TSN
Chris Long rips TSN for confusing him with Jake Long.
St. Louis Rams defense end Chris Long is one of the NFL’s most prolific tweeters, and on Thursday, the former second overall draft pick took aim at the Canadian-based sports network, TSN.
On Tuesday, the Atlanta Falcons signed former 2008 first overall draft selection Jake Long to a free agent contract.
Long was drafted first overall by the Miami Dolphins and the plan was for the former Michigan standout to be a long-term fixture on the team’s offensive line. It was successful at first as Long earned Pro Bowl honors in his first four seasons. 2011 was the last time that Long went to the Pro Bowl as injuries led to a decline in production.
Long’s time with the Dolphins eventually came to an end that led to him signing with the St. Louis Rams in 2013. For Long with the Rams, he became teammates with the player that was selected immediately after him.
With the second overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft, the St. Louis Rams selected defensive end Chris Long. Long has had a successful career to this point with the Rams as the defense end has compiled 51.5 sacks since his rookie season.
The idea of having two Longs on one team can be confusing and that proved to be the case for the Canadian-based sports network, TSN. In their online report of Jake Long signing with the Falcons, TSN used a picture of Chris Long in the story. Chris Long got wind of the story and had fun at TSN’s expense on Twitter.
No Falcons’ fans, your team did not sign Chris Long. But, feel free to blame the “jerks” at TSN if you already ordered your No. 91 Falcons’ jersey with Long on the back of it.
