It’s been a long season of baseball and it’s winding down after the long summer months seem to be a thing of the past. Many teams that thought they’d be contenders at this point in the season proved to be nothing more than pretenders to begin the year and some players who thought they’d blossom into stars are nothing more than average contributors.

When you look around the league, there are a handful of surprise teams as well. Organizations who were building toward the future, but the future happened to be now.

The New York Mets, Chicago Cubs and Houston Astros are all examples of teams that have come out of nowhere to shock MLB experts and fans. Players on each of those teams have progressed at an unbelievable rate and those three clubs are living proof as to why building a minor league system is crucial.

Along with those surprise teams come a handful of overnight stars who have risen from the minor league systems or just haven’t performed up to par since joining the major league ball club.

It’s safe to say the 2015 season can be considered the most shocking in recent memory because of those teams that had usually been close to the bottom of the division standings now rising to the top to take over the usual champs.

Let’s take a look at the 10 biggest surprise hitters in baseball for the 2015 season. Again, some are young guys who dominated in their first real season when given a chance while others broke out for their best season yet.
