San Francisco 49ers (+6) over Pittsburgh Steelers

This line has fallen a half-point after Pittsburgh opened as a 6.5-point favorite and, well, that doesn’t make a lot of sense given that most of the action has been on the side of the Steelers. What does that mean? The sharp money is on San Francisco.

That doesn’t necessarily mean that I would pick the Niners to win outright, as Pittsburgh is the better team playing at home. Still, grabbing nearly a touchdown is appetizing, and the Steelers will once again be playing without Le’Veon Bell. Some believe that San Francisco’s stellar season-opening performance was an aberration, but the Niners played with physicality and aggressiveness, and that should translate here.

Minnesota Vikings (-2.5) over Detroit Lions

Wait, I’m taking a favorite?

It is certainly a rarity in this space, but no one likes the Vikings this week and the line is an overreaction to Week 1. Both of these teams sit at 0-1, but Minnesota flopped in spectacular fashion against the 49ers on Monday Night Football, and as a result, this line is lower than it should be.

At the time of this post, 85% of action (courtesy of Vegas Insider) is on the Lions on the road, and because we’re fading the public, I’ll take Minnesota at home. Given the issues in the opener, I would expect a full workload from Adrian Peterson and even if Detroit’s offense is a bit scary, the Vikings will be ready to avenge that embarrassing loss to San Francisco.
