NFL picks and predictions for the second week of the season.

The folks at Sports Illustrated and ScoreBig are helping you navigate every NFL Sunday, making their picks and predictions. Don Banks leads the charge and last week he went an impressive 11-5, so he is a reliable source.

Here are their picks for Week 2:

  • Panthers 20 – Texans 13
  • Steelers 29 – 49ers 23
  • Saints 34 – Buccaneers 20
  • Cardinals 24 – Bears 17
  • Patriots 23 – Bills 21
  • Bengals 33 – Chargers 27
  • Titans 27 – Browns 13
  • Vikings 31 – Lions 17
  • Giants 26 – Falcons 24
  • Rams 30 – Redskins 19
  • Dolphins 23 – Jaguars 13
  • Ravens 27 – Raiders 20
  • Eagles 31 – Cowboys 25
  • Packers 31 – Seahawks 20
  • MNF: Colts 24 – Jets 20

The most shocking picks might be the Philadelphia Eagles over the Cowboys, otherwise he seems to be going pretty much chalk.

Banks has the Panthers dropping the Texans to 0-2, and Marcus Mariota leading the Titans to a 2-0 record by knocking off Johnny Manziel and the Cleveland Browns. That would give Mariota wins over two Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks in the first two games of his career, that has to be some kind of stat right?

Banks also predicts a close one between the New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills, which has all the build up of a potentially great game.

The Vikings defeating the Lions is also an intriguing pick. The Lions are perhaps a considerably more talented team while we’re still trying to figure out what the Vikings are in quarterback Teddy Bridgewater’s second season and with Adrian Peterson’s return.
