Final. 19. 15. 26. 48

Last week was a bad week for Jameis Winston and the Buccaneers, but they managed to rebound in a big way against division rivals in New Orleans. The Saints needed to comeback and snap a home losing streak but failed to do that as Winston picked up his first of his NFL career on the road.

It was a huge building block for the young quarterback, and it in no way defines anything about his first season. But what it does say is that Winston isn’t going to be fazed by a bad game and let it roll over into another bad start. It wasn’t  great start, but he got the win for his team and that’s all the Bucs can really hope for at this point.

Highlights

Three Stars of the Game

1. Jameis Winston

The Buccaneers are looking at two versions of Jameis Winston through two games in the season. The version we saw last week was less than stellar, while this version of Jameis was something that Bucs fans will want to see grow over the coming weeks. He’s far from perfect and there was plenty of things he needs to work on, but Winston was composed after a rough start last week and he rebounded by picking up a huge win.

2. Doug Martin

Everyone is waiting for Doug Martin to bust out and return to form. That still hasn’t happened but he was again effective on the ground and continued to settle into the workhorse role that the offense needs him to perform in if they want flow all over the field.

3. Vincent Jackson

He wasn’t the standout receiver for the game, as Louis Murphy clocked the most yards, but Jackson was the veteran receiver that the Bucs needed him to be. He was drawing coverage, he was out there making plays and he was helping Jameis Winston feel comfortable in the pocket. That’s a relationship that will continue to grow as the season continues.

Odds

The Saints were heavily favored and loss the game, thus failing to cover.

Next Week

The Buccaneers will head to Houston to play the Texans while the Saints will head to Carolina for another divisional game against the Panthers.
