Arizona Cardinals vs. Chicago Bears

The Arizona Cardinals hit the road for the first time this season to face a Chicago Bears team that is coming off a close first week loss against the Green Bay Packers. Under new head coach John Fox, the Bears are looking to bounce back after a down season. It won’t be easy as the Cardinals offense is rolling behind quarterback Carson Palmer and their offensive guru of a head coach Bruce Arians. Will the Chicago Bears be able to slow down the Cardinals’ offense?

Keys to Victory

With a tough offense coming to town, it’s going to be hard enough for the Bears. With Alshon Jeffery and Pernell McPhee both potentially out, it’s not going to be an easy game for the Chicago Bears. Not having Jeffery on Sunday, would mean they’d probably have to really go with the run game and Matt Forte. Unfortunately for the Bears, the Cardinals have one of the best rush defenses in the NFL and they aren’t going to make it easy. Instead the Bears will likely have to utilize Matt Forte out in space as a receiver. If they can do that and find Martellus Bennett, they’ll have a chance on option. The Cardinals like to blitz, so the Bears will have to make them pay for sending the house.

For the Cardinals to win on Sunday, they have to take advantage of a banged up Bears offense and get after Jay Cutler. If the Cardinals can do a better job of getting pressure on the quarterback this week, then that will allow Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu and the rest of the Cardinals secondary to make plays and pick off Cutler multiple times. On offense, the Cardinals need to get a boost from running back Chris Johnson. If Johnson can get some explosive bursts, that will allow the passing game to open where Carson Palmer has a variety of weapons.

Prediction

Rather than having the Arizona Cardinals stay at a nice hotel on Michigan Avenue, the Cardinals chose to stay somewhere else tucked away in Chicago. The team will be focused and ready to come out early and take advantage of a Bears team they need to beat. The Bears will test the Cardinals early and Matt Forte will be a problem, but the defense will adjust and make big plays as the offense rolls along and does their thing. The Arizona Cardinals will roll in Chicago and move to 2-0 on the season.

Final Score: Arizona Cardinals 27, Chicago Bears 10
