Charlotte wins WWE Divas title: Twitter reacts
Charlotte ended Nikki Bella’s record WWE Divas Championship reign at Night of Championship and Twitter reacted accordingly
Charlotte almost had her hands on the WWE Divas Championship on the go-home RAW for Night of Champions, but was ultimately not awarded the belt as she had pinned Brie Bella instead of Nikki Bella for the victory thanks to “Twin Magic.” That only made the daughter of Ric Flair even more determined for her match with Nikki at Night of Champions.
With the added stipulation that Nikki would lose the title no matter if she lost by pinfall, submission, count-out, or disqualification, Charlotte was left with the odds more so in her favor than they were on RAW the week before the pay-per-view, but tweaking her knee early in the Night of Champions match changed that drastically.
Even as the odds seemed to keep stacking higher against her, Charlotte was able to overcome everything and defeat Nikki to win her first WWE Divas Championship and usher in a changing of the guard in the division on the main roster.
Ever since the debut of Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and Becky Lynch, WWE has been preaching about the Divas Revolution, but Charlotte winning the title is the first major step that WWE has taken to really show that they’re taking the movement seriously. In light of this positive change and Charlotte winning the title, Twitter expectedly blew up in response:
