The Dallas Cowboys looked like they were mounting a solid offensive drive for possible the first time all game in the third quarter. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was flushed out of the pocket and as he scrambled for dear life he lost the ball, which was knocked loose.

Romo made an effort to get the ball back and had two opponents grab a hold of him from behind as he fell to the turf. Romo fell hard on his non-throwing shoulder and laid on the turf clutching his left shoulder and writhing in pain.

The game went to commercial and when they returned, Romo was seen leaving the field to go to the locker room. A close up shot showed the pain on Romo’s face.

He can be seen saying “it’s broken.”

Because the Cowboys lost possession on the fumble he wasn’t pulled from the game, but it looks like Romo could not be returning for the next series depending on the results of the x-rays he is receiving.

The Cowboys’ lone backup dressed for the game is former Oklahoma State Cowboys star Brandon Weeden.

[UPDATE:] Romo has a fractured left clavicle and is out for the game.
