Washington Redskins’ Mike Jones rushes for 39 yards and touchdowns on Sunday.
The Washington Redskins are taking on a St. Louis Rams team that upset the Seattle Seahawks in the season-opener. Going into this game you had to wonder if the Rams would be emotionally deflated or if that was the beginning of a dominant run from the Rams.
Early in the Week 2 match up Matt Jones of the Redskins broke out wide on the far side of the field, left side of the formation, to take it 39 yards down field for the touchdown.
Not exactly the kind of play the Rams want to be giving up to the lowly Redskins, particularly not to the back-up running back. Alfred Morris would’ve been one thing, but Matt Jones?
The Rams at times struggled against Marshawn Lynch, who carried the team downfield for a big gain last week. This could be an issue that the Rams need to address.
For Jones, it was his lone carry of the game at that point. Last week against the Dolphins Jones carried the ball six times for 28 yards. He could become a solid contributor for the Redskins’ ground game.
