The Green Bay Packers improved to 2-0, beating the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football, 27-17, at Lambeau Field. Green Bay was in charge with a 10-0 first-quarter lead before Seattle came roaring back, taking a 17-13 lead in the third quarter. However, the Packers were able to score the final 14 points in victory.

Seattle now finds itself in a bad position. The Seahawks are 0-2, and since 1990 when the playoff format changed to 12 teams, only 12 percent of 0-2 teams reach the postseason. Seattle is certainly talented enough to make a run to the playoffs, but this start has to be disappointing. Marshawn Lynch was completely bottled up, gaining 41 rushing yards on 15 carries.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Aaron Rodgers

Rodgers was sublime against the Legion of Boom, completing 25-of-33 for 249 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. Even more impressive was Rodgers’ work when the pocket was collapsing. Rodgers was continually able to evade the rush and find open receivers, buying precious seconds. It was masterful.

2. Randall Cobb

Without Jordy Nelson this season, Cobb has become the lead dog of the receivers in Green Bay. Cobb stepped up in a big way on Monday night, hauling in eight catches on 11 targets for a game-high 116 yards. Cobb worked mostly out of the slot, avoiding matchups with Richard Sherman. Cobb’s speed and route-running were key throughout the evening, getting him open against both zone and man.

3. Doug Baldwin

Seattle’s offense was silent for the most part, but Baldwin was able to make his presence felt. The veteran led the Seahawks with seven catches on eight targets for 92 yards and a touchdown in the third quarter that briefly put Seattle in the lead. The Seahawks are without great receivers, but Baldwin is a very solid – and underrated – player.

Odds

Green Bay was favored by four points and covered the spread.
