The Washington Redskins dropped the hammer on a deflated St. Louis Rams team.

The St. Louis Rams got a huge win over the Seattle Seahawks in the season-opener, the question was whether they’d be emotionally deflated or if they could keep the momentum going. The Washington Redskins have been in the cellar of the league for a couple of seasons and are looking to change their fortunes in Week 2 after a season-opening loss against the Miami Dolphins.

It looked like the Rams were deflated after their Seahawks-win. The Redskins took a 17 point lead into the half.

The Rams came out strong in the second half to bring the game within seven points, but a late fourth quarter touchdown from Matt Jones, a three-yard run, put the ice on this game.

Three stars

  1. Matt Jones, RB, Redskins – He carried the ball for over 120 yards and two touchdowns.
  2. Kirk Cousins, QB, Redskins – Completed 23 of 27 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown, with a passer rating of 110.3
  3. Jordan Reed, TE, Redskins – Caught all six balls thrown his way for 82 yards.

Highlights

Redskins running back Matt Jones opened the scoring with a 39-yard touchdown run.

Odds

Rams (-3)

The Rams were the favorite after their big win over the Seattle Seahawks, but not only did the Redskins beat the spread and win outright, they crushed them.

Next Week

Next week the Washington Redskins head to MetLife Stadium to play NFC East rivals, the New York Giants, on the road.

The St. Louis Rams return home to the Edward Jones dome to host the Pittsburgh Steelers who looked dominant on Sunday.
