The NFL is undoubtedly a passing league, so when quarterbacks get the chance to prove themselves, they must take advantage. Unfortunately many guys just don’t have what it takes to be starters in today’s NFL. No matter how many chances they are given, some signal-callers just aren’t worthy of owning one of the 32 starting jobs in the league.

More from Houston Texans

The following five players have had ample opportunities to prove themselves as quarterbacks in the NFL and face critical seasons in their careers. Some own big contracts, while others are former backups who have yet to show they can handle being full-time starters. What they have in common is that 2015 is a do-or-die season for each and it may be the last chance to step up and prove they belong.

To be considered a player had to be named his team’s starting quarterback before the season began. Onwards to five guys who will be walking a perilous tightrope throughout the 2015 season.
