News could be getting worse for the Philadelphia Eagles, as they may have to go the rest of the way without Kiko Alonso

The first two weeks of the 2015 NFL season have not been kind to the Philadelphia Eagles, and the news could be getting worse before it maybe gets better. According to a report from FOX Sports’ Mike Garafolo, linebacker Kiko Alonso could be lost for the season with a knee injury that he suffered on Sunday in the loss to the Dallas Cowboys.

Alonso left the game on Sunday against the Cowboys with the injury, although there were some initial reports that stated they didn’t believe the injury was an ACL tear. He was scheduled for the MRI on Monday, and while we don’t know the official results just yet, it sounds like that may in fact be the deal here, considering he could be gone until next season.

Chip Kelly acquired Alonso this off-season in a trade with the Buffalo Bills, the same one that sent LeSean McCoy packing. He brought in his former Oregon linebacker to put some speed on that Eagles defense, and in the time he did play on the field, he brought that athleticism to the table. His amazing interception in the Week 1 loss to the Atlanta Falcons proved just that.

Now, though, they’ll have to figure out how to go the rest of the way without him, it seems. In the time that he did see on the field this season, Alonso tallied seven tackles along with that interception.

Alonso missed the entirety of last season with the Bills after suffering an ACL tear in the summer.
