Austin Seferian-Jenkins out 4-6 weeks
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a prolific passing attack, but the weapons just became one fewer on Tuesday. Tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins will be out 4-6 weeks with a strained shoulder, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Seferian-Jenkins looks like he could be a nice player for Tampa Bay. Last year, Seferian-Jenkins caught 21 passes for 221 yards as a rookie after being picked in the second round form the University of Washington. This year, Seferian-Jenkins was off to a good start with seven catches and 139 yards over the first two games, putting him on pace for more than 1,000 yards. Unfortunately, we will not be seeing the 6-foot-5, 262-pound tight end until some time in either late October or early November.
Tampa Bay is 1-1 on the season and has hopes of making some moves in the NFC South. While the Buccaneers went 2-14 last year and earned the top-overall pick in the draft, there is real talent on this team. Jameis Winston looks like a quarterback who has all the tools to become a franchise player, and he has all kinds of athletes around him in receivers Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans, and running back Doug Martin.
The Buccaneers will need to rely more on the rushing attack with Seferian-Jenkins sidelined. Martin has been one of the best backs in the league before, but can he find his old ways? Meanwhile, the defense must improve and stop allowing chunk yardage.
