The Chicago Cubs vs. Pittsburgh Pirates series is the one to watch this week.

Every week the folks at Sports Illustrated and ScoreBig get together to pick out the must watch series of the week in Major League Baseball. This week, if you’re going to watch one series make sure its the match up between Chicago Cubs an Pittsburgh Pirates.

The rest of the must-see series to watch in MLB are as follows:

  • Cubs vs. Pirates, Sept. 25-27
  • Angels vs. Astros, Sept. 21-13
  • Twins vs. Indians, Sept. 22-24
  • Mariners vs. Royals, Sept. 22–24
  • Rangers vs. Astros, Sept. 25–27
  • Giants vs. Athletics, Sept. 25–27

It’s getting to that time of the season when teams are going to either make or break their chances at getting to the postseason. Entering their series with one another, the Cubs trail the Pirates in the Wild Card standings and it’s looking like this might be a precursor to a Wild Card game between the two teams next month.

As for the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians, there is a narrow gap between the two teams when it comes to bing in the hunt for the AL Wild Card race. Neither of the two teams are in the Wild Card at the moment, but if the Astros or Yankees fall off then this series is going to be even more important.

Speaking of whom, the Astros are looking to do to the Rangers what Texas did to Houston not that long ago and take the lead int eh AL West back. Its a tight race in the American League, and that series could end up being a series that has a trickle down effect on all other contenders vying for a spot in the postseason.
