Things have not gone particularly well for the Philadelphia Eagles to start the 2015 NFL season. They have two losses in as many games and their offense is looking the worst it has since Chip Kelly arrived in town. Now their strong front-seven on the defensive side of the ball could be taking a big hit with the loss of linebacker Kiko Alonso.

The third-year player suffered a knee injury in Sunday’s Week Two loss to the Dallas Cowboys and many feared the worst. On Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported that Alonso did indeed suffer a severe injury in the form of a partially torn ACL:

However, a partially torn ACL isn’t as bad as it could have been. Alonso will see Dr. James Andrews for that second opinion to see if he could possibly return this season or if he’s done for the rest of 2015:

The short of it is that Alonso’s injury could have been much worse, as there is still some hope that he can play this season. However, there is also the possibility that the talented linebacker is lost for the entire year. Regardless, things look to be getting substantially worse for a team that can ill afford something else to slow down their progress this season.
