The Portland Trail Blazers seem hellbent on finding a way to get Anthony Bennett on their roster for the 2015-16 season.

After two seasons in the NBA, Anthony Bennett will be looking for work with his third team in as many years as a pro. The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Bennett was deemed a bust in his first season with the Cleveland Cavaliers and it’s been a harsh road for him since then. That doesn’t mean his career is over though, as it seems there is serious interest from the Portland Trail Blazers when it comes to who will help develop Bennett next.

According to Marc Stein from ESPN.com, the Blazers are trying very hard to find a way to bring Anthony Bennett aboard, with the dream scenario being that the former No. 1 overall pick lands in their laps with a cut-rate deal.

Bennett will be on his third team in his career with whoever tries to develop him next. There was a lot of hope that Bennett would latch on in Minnesota and turn his career around, but that didn’t happen. It’s a little sad too, as Bennett has the reputation of a washed up veteran player and he was the No. 1 overall pick just three years ago.

His first year in Cleveland was abysmal and while he cut weight in a big way over the 2014 offseason, he was shipped to Minnesota in the Kevin Love-Andrew Wiggins trade. Bennett’s tenure in Minnesota was uneventful at best and now he’s entering true draft bust territory when it comes to whether or not his career is salvageable.
