What wasn’t a surprise in Week 2?

Last time on Four and Out, we explored a few shockers from Week 1 of NFL football. They aren’t unexpected in professional football, but the number of injuries—especially to high-profile players—was shocking. Many fantasy football team owners saw their rosters decimated and, more distressing, fans of the real-life teams saw several favorite players suffer injuries that will keep them sidelined for weeks.

Another surprise, the St. Louis Rams defeated the Seattle Seahawks with both of their star running backs, Tre Mason and rookie Todd Gurley, sidelined. The Buffalo Bills also did well and, surprise!, beat the Indianapolis Colts decisively. And, the Cowboys pulled out a last-minute win after Giants quarterback Eli Manning made some really suspect decisions.

This week, there were even more surprises than things going according to script. Week 2 saw Tony Romo break his clavicle, and Jerry Jones’ heart along with it. A few NFL powerhouses don’t seem so powerful anymore; Johnny Manziel pulled out a victory; and the Giants gave up a lead to lose to the Falcons.

A few things happened they way they were supposed to. The Steelers offense dominated in their victory over the 49ers. After a lackluster Week 1, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson rushed for over 100 yards. And, though many hoped for a surprise victory by the Bills, the Patriots won their Week 2 game in Buffalo.

Let’s take a look at four of the many surprises coming out of Week 2.
