James Starks-Green Bay Packers (36.3%)

Starks would end up the best play of the top four options on this list if Eddie Lacy is unable to play this Monday night against the Chiefs.  Starks filled in well for Lacy in week 2 rushing for 95 yards on 20 carries and adding 11 more yards on four catches. If you’re an Eddie Lacy owner, James Starks is a must-own, but it may be tricky to tell who to play this week.

Lacy left last week’s Sunday Night Football game after rolling his ankle.  X-Rays were negative and the MRI showed he was able to avoid a high-ankle sprain as well.  He is expected to work his way back to practice on Thursday if he is going to be on track to play on Monday.  The worst case scenario for Starks’ and Lacy’s owners will be if the team goes into the game with the plan to share carries between them limiting the upside of both.

Hopefully we get clarity one way or the other before Sunday, but holding Starks as a flier for this week at a flex spot is a good strategy. Starks isn’t the most talented of the waiver wire running backs on this list, but if he gets the start he’ll be the one in the best offense since he would be the feature back for the Green Bay Packers.
