Chris Bosh missed the second half of the 2014-15 NBA season and it was discovered that the 2x NBA Champion was suffering from blood clots. Though the Miami Heat struggled in his absence, missing the playoffs and picking 10th in the 2015 NBA Draft, it was the right call to make sure All-Star big man for the Heat was healthy going forward.
Bosh announced in a press conference today that he will be a full participant in fall camp with the Miami Heat. With a healthy Chris Bosh entering the 2015-16 NBA Season, the Miami Heat might have one of the most formidable starting fives in the NBA: Goran Dragic at point guard, Dwyane Wade at shooting guard, Luol Deng at small forward, Chris Bosh at power forward, and Hassan Whiteside at center.
Getting Bosh back for training camp is crucial in developing continuity with this team. Bosh only played half a season with Deng in the starting lineup. Hassan Whiteside came into his own in Bosh’s absence. Chris didn’t get the opportunity to play with Dragic as he came over from Phoenix at the trade deadline.
Many expect Miami to contend in the Southeast Division with the Atlanta Hawks and the Washington Wizards, fighting for playoff positioning. Should Miami’s starting five grow as a unit for Head Coach Erik Spoelstra and the bench deepens in South Beach, then the Heat become a dark horse contender in the Eastern Conference in 2015-16.
For now, the basketball world rejoices as one of the good guys is back playing for another shot an at NBA Championship. Today was a great day for the Miami Heat and the NBA with the announcement of Chris Bosh’s improved health situation.
