High Value Quarterbacks

Tyrod Taylor (5,800): Taylor earned the starting job in Buffalo this preseason and has gotten off to a good start to the season as well.  He’s still a first-year starter so there will be ups-and-downs as we were reminded on Sunday when he threw three picks as well as three touchdowns while finishing with 242 yards passing and another 43 yards and a fourth TD on the ground.  He’s a dual-threat QB and has posted 15.9 and 28.98 DraftKings points in his first two weeks.  This week, he’ll face a tough defense as he takes on the Dolphins in what could be a defensive struggle, but Taylor has gotten off to a strong enough start and showed he can make enough plays to make him worth checking out if you’re looking for a value play at QB under 6K on DraftKings week 3.

Derek Carr (5,300): Carr left week 1 early, but he returned with an extremely impressive win in his first full game under center this season for Oakland.  As the Ravens visited the Bay, Carr threw for 351 yards and three touchdowns while also throwing a pick.  He finished with 30.3 DraftKings points.  This week, Carr leads the Raiders on the road where he faces a tough matchup against the Browns’ solid secondary.  I still like him as a solid value play, though, since he still costs so little and it looks like Oakland is ready to put the ball in his hand and let him air it out.

Nick Foles (5,200): Foles and the Rams have been up-and-down in their first two weeks.  They looked great to start the season upsetting the Seahawks, but they came crashing back to earth in Washington where they lost to the Redskins.  This week, Foles and the Rams are back in the dome as they take on the Steelers in Pittsburgh.  While the Steelers offense is sure to put up points, don’t overlook that the Steelers secondary has allowed more DraftKings points than any other team in the NFL. Especially if Big Ben, Antonio Brown, and the returning Le’Veon Bell pour it on early, Foles will be throwing a lot which could result in a big game for the former Eagle.  He’s a very high risk play this week since he has yet to throw multiple TD’s in any game season, but there’s a good chance he’ll be airing it out Sunday.
