The New York Giants earned their first win of the 2015 National Football League season, beating the Washington Redskins, 32-14, on Thursday Night Football at MetLife Stadium. The game was never in doubt with New York taking the lead early on a Rashad Jennings blocked punt that resulted in a safety.

It was a comedy of errors for Washington, which showed why many pundits believe it is the worst team in the league. The Redskins continually dropped passes and turned the ball over, including a pair of interceptions from Kirk Cousins. Both teams now stand at 1-2, with the Giants technically in second place of the NFC East due to the tiebreaker.

Highlights

Three Stars

1. Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham was typically great, hauling in seven passes on eight targets for 77 yards and a touchdown. The score was a thing of beauty, with Beckham snatched a 30-yard strike out of the air to end the competitive phase of the contest. Beckham has two career games against the Redskins and four touchdowns.

2. Eli Manning

Manning was very solid on Thursday night, completing 23-of-31 for 279 yards and two touchdowns. Most importantly, Manning did not give away any turnovers, forcing Washington into long fields all night. Manning spread the ball around, hitting eight different receivers on the evening.

3. Fans who watched

The NFL owes a debt of gratitude for everyone who sat through this game, both at the stadium and on the couch. Washington did everything it could possibly do to force people away from the action, but a few dozen hearty souls would not give in. For that, we applaud you.

Odds

New York was favored by four points and covered the spread.

Next Week

The Giants will stay in New York to take on the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium while the Redskins play host to the Philadelphia Eagles.
