There are reportedly three superstars being considered to face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32

The Undertaker competing at WrestleMania is a tradition unlike any other in WWE. Even with the streak being ended by Brock Lesnar, there’s still a special aura about seeing The Deadman at WrestleMania. As WWE gears up for what should be their biggest pay-per-view ever in WrestleMania 32, word is starting to leak out as to whom Taker may be up against on the card.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has three opponents in mind for The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32: Seth Rollins, John Cena, and Braun Strowman. That’s obviously subject to change as we are still a good six months or so away from the event, but that’s the word going around WWE as of now.

In terms of those three opponents, Cena makes the most sense. It’s a match that we’ve never seen before at WrestleMania and, despite Cena’s perception among a large population of wrestling fans, the two could put on a fantastic match if they were to meet in the ring. More importantly, that’s a match that would put butts in seats, which is a huge deal as the company tries to fill Cowboys stadium.

Rollins and Undertaker would undoubtedly be able to put on a great match as well. Despite his injury, Sting heaped praise on Rollins after their match at Night of Champions and called him one of the most talented wrestlers that he’s ever been in a ring with. That’s something that the eye-test has only confirmed when it comes to Rollins and he and The Deadman have the potential to tear the house down if they were to meet at Mania.

The obvious outlier in that list of three is Strowman, a guy who debuted on the main roster just a few short weeks ago and is a supporting character in the Wyatt Family stable. Even if they tied a rocket ship to him over the next several months leading up to WrestleMania, Strowman isn’t the same level of opponent as Rollins or Cena would be. Not to mention the fact that Strowman’s matches on the main roster are his first televised matches in WWE as he never appeared on NXT tapings. I’m not so sure putting a wrestler that green with The Undertaker at WrestleMania is a good ide. If I had to guess, Strowman drops off this list before all is said and done.

As I said, there could be someone else that comes into the picture as a potential opponent for Taker, but these are the three being discussed right now. It’s pretty clear which two superstars of the three would make the most sense logistically, but we’ll see if the smart route is the one that WWE chooses to take.
