There was a rare occurrence on Friday night as Aaron Altherr of the Phillies got himself an inside-the-park grand slam
Needless to say, things have not gone all that well this season for the Philadelphia Phillies. Maybe the worst team in all of baseball, this season cannot come to a close fast enough for these guys as September comes to a close and we move into the month of October.
However, that doesn’t mean they’re not going to still take their wins where they can get them, as Aaron Altherr showed us on Friday night.
With the Phillies taking on the Washington Nationals, Altherr was up in the top of the third inning and, well, this was certainly a sight to see. Facing Jordan Zimmermann, we got the very rare inside-the-park grand slam.

Well, now, there’s something that you don’t see everyday in the game. Certainly, you don’t expect to see something like that from the Phillies of all teams. Yet, here it is. They have some late-season surprises up their sleeves, apparently.
For a little more perspective on this, the last time it was done, the Tampa Bay Rays were still the “Devil Rays.”
Aaron Altherr's inside-the-park grand slam is the 1st in MLB since Randy Winn did it for the Devil Rays against the Yankees on Oct 3, 1999
