Burger King is bringing a black bun burger to America for Halloween
By Josh Hill
After thinking we were getting pranked earlier this year, it turns out Burger King really is bringing a black bun burger to its locations in America.
Halloween is always a strange time in America, as it gives us all an excuse to dress up in outfits we’d ever otherwise be caught dead in and allows us to pig out only slightly more than we usually do. But Burger King is making things weird this year, as they’re brining over something from it’s Japanese experiment that might actually end up being a top selling item this fall.
If you were paying attention over the summer, you probably heard about a black bun burger that Burger King was selling at locations in Japan. Well, it turns out that the item was such a gigantic smash with curious consumers that it’s going to make the leap from overseas sensation to domestic artery clogger.
For real — Burger King is brining it’s infamous black bun burger over to America after is apparently was a hit in Japan.
"“Our U.S. guests have been extremely curious about the bun flavors they’ve seen introduced in Japan and other countries, so we saw the opportunity to bring them an equally unique experience…It may look Japanese but it tastes like America,” said Eric Hirschhorn, Chief Marketing Officer for Burger King North America in a press release."
This is both really cool and also really scary — hey, just like Halloween.
On the cool side of things, this is a pretty unique item that we haven’t really seen before and will probably all be intrigued to try. On the downside — which is a majority of this grand event — is the fact that fast food gimmicks have become so tired and desperate that they’re literally changing the color of food we’ve grown accustomed to in order to boost sales. It worked in a way for Taco Bell, but this is going to be a black spot on our health history as a county.
Probably a damn tasty black spot too.
