The Dallas Cowboys expect wide receiver Dez Bryant to return in Week 7.

The timetable for Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant to return from injury has been all over the place based on which reports you’ve followed. We’ve seen a spread of four to 12 weeks from various reports.

Well the Cowboys and executive vice president Stephen Jones have come out and given the timeline the team expects.

“Our prognosis has never changed,” Jones told the Ben and Skin show on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM], via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “I know there have been a lot of people who have doctors on their media staff and like to speculate on these things, but we’ve been pretty consistent from Day One. At first we thought maybe four to six [weeks] and that changed to six to eight. By the next day we were pretty much thinking six to eight.

“We really feel like it’s a very fair goal to think that Dez will be back after the bye.”

The bye is in Week 6, which would make his return date be Week 7. Interestingly enough, the Cowboys will play the New York Giants in that October 25th match up. The Cowboys played the Giants in the season-opener when Bryant was initially injured.

The Cowboys might be targetting that date, but they should certainly make no effort to force Bryant back into the line up with quarterback Tony Romo also out because of injury.
