For the first time since 2006, the New York Mets are headed to the postseason and fans are losing their minds.
It’s been a world of baseball hurt for fans of the New York Mets recently, as it’s been almost a decade since the team has played meaningful baseball past October. That’s all changing though, as the Mets are postseason bound after beating the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday afternoon.
All the Mets needed to do was win, and that’s what they did — for once not collapsing when it all mattered most. That’s basically been the mantra for the Mets as of late, with the postseason always being within reach but never being attainable thanks to the horrible play late the season fans have grown accustomed to seeing. There’s still time for the Mets to go full Mets and screw things up, ut unlike previous years that will happen in the postseason and not in the games leading up to it.
Beyond just clinching a playoff spot, this is the first time since 1999 that the Mets have won the NL East — something fans have been waiting to see for far too long.
Needless to say, fans in Queens and across Mets nation were more than pleased to see the team return to the postseason for the first time in nine years.

The Mets are going to party like the last time they won the division in 1999.

I've waited since 2006 to see the mets make the playoffs. Every year tricking myself to thinking they would be good. Finally it's true
