Ben Roethlisberger’s MRI revealed nothing more than an MCL sprain — which is the best news Steelers fans could have hoped for.

When the Pittsburgh Steelers watched Ben Roethlishberger get carted off the field on Sunday afternoon following a scary knee injury, the worst was what everyone was fearing. The way his leg bent — i.e. not the way a leg should bend — and the grave nature of his exit from the field illustrated a scene that didn’t look as though a happy ending was in store.

The Steelers did’t hear healthy news regarding Big Ben, but the MRI he underwent on Sunday night was much more positive than anyone could have hoped for.

According to Jason LaCanfora from CBSSports, the Steelers have confirmed that Roethlisberger’s scary injury was nothing more than an MCL sprain — meaning he didn’t tear anything.

This is the best possible news that the Steelers could have hoped for, aside from Big Ben being totally healthy. Given the brutal nature of the injury and how scary the scene was when he exited the game, fans everywhere were fearing the worse.

Pittsburgh will more than likely be rolling with Michael Vick for the next few weeks, but this news means that Big Ben could very well return before the four weeks initially given to us as a prognosis.
