Week 3 in the NFL has already been an entertaining one with plenty of back-and forth action in the ten early games.  The biggest news of the day was definitely the serious injury sustained by Big Ben Roethlisberger in a game that Pittsburgh was still able to win. In this post, we’ll take a look at some happier news for fantasy football owners as we look at the fantasy football scoring leaders from the early games today.

More from Carolina Panthers

In a pair of big fantasy games, the Ravens and Bengals played an entertaining nail-biting divisional game that Cincinnati won to move to 3-0, and the Falcons came all the way back to beat the Cowboys in Brandon Weeden’s first start 39-28. Lots of our top scorers come from those games, but here’s a look at all the players who got their week off to a good start and are among the fantasy football scoring leaders so far in week 3.

Devonta Freeman-RB-Atlanta Falcons: Freeman had a huge performance in his first week as the Falcons feature-back.  With Tevin Coleman sidelined, Freeman got 30 carries and rambled for 141 yards finding the end zone three times.  He added an additional 52 yards while hauling in all five of his targets in the Falcons come-from-behind win.

A.J. Green-WR-Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals got a huge road win moving to 3-0 while dropping the Ravens to 0-3. Green had a monster game catching ten passes for 227 yards and a pair of touchdowns including the game-winner.

Steve Smith Sr.-WR-Baltimore Ravens: Smith tried to keep up with Green but both he and the Ravens came up just short.  Smith finished with 186 yards on his 13 catches while scoring a pair of touchdowns.

Andy Dalton-QB-Cincinnati Bengals: Dalton was the highest scoring QB from the early games throwing for 383 yards and three touchdowns while adding another score on the ground while rushing for ten yards.  He had a pair of turnovers, but his production more than made up for any points he lost.

Cam Newton-QB-Carolina Panthers: Cam was again magical as he led the Panthers to a 27-22 win over the Saints.  He threw for 315 yards and a pair of scores while adding a rushing touchdown and adding 33 yards on the ground.

Julio Jones-WR-Atlanta Falcons: Another big-name fantasy wide receiver with a big game was Julio Jones who caught 12 passes from Matt Ryan in the Falcons win over Dallas.  Jones finished with 164 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Joseph Randle-RB-Dallas Cowboys: The Cowboys and Falcons had plenty of fantasy football points to go around, and Randle put up big numbers as the Cowboys built the early lead.  He finished with 87 rushing yards on 14 carries while scoring three touchdowns and adding 18 yards on two catches.

LeGarrette Blount-RB-New England Patriots: After Dion Lewis dominated the workload the first two games of the season, Blount got plenty of action against the Jaguars this week as the Patriots piled on in a 51-17 win.  Blount ran for three touchdowns and 78 yards on his 18 carries after only having two carries in the first two games of the season.

Greg Olsen-TE-Carolina Panthers:  Olsen is the Panthers one receiving weapon who isn’t hurt, but coming into this week he had been quiet to start the year.  He went off in a big way against the Saints, though, catching eight passes for 134 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Keenan Allen-WR-San Diego Chargers: Allen’s roller-coaster ride of a season continued this week bouncing back with a big game after last week’s letdown.  Allen caught 12 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers 31-14 loss to Minnesota.

Adrian Peterson-RB-Minnesota Vikings: Peterson had another big game as he led the Vikings to that win over San Diego.  He didn’t catch a pass, but finished with 126 yards on his 20 carries while scoring his first two touchdowns of the season.
