Joseph Randle is making the Dallas Cowboys forget all about Dez Bryant and Tony Romo
For those people worried about how the Dallas Cowboys offense would look without both Dez Bryant and Tony Romo on the field against the Atlanta Falcons in Week Three, running back Joseph Randle put any concern to rest quite early.
Randle took the first carry of the opening drive down the left side of the field for 28 yards. On the second play, Romo’s backup in Brandon Weeden threw an incomplete pass. The Cowboys then went back to Randle. The back was met with contact in the backfield, but he shed a tackler and then turned on the afterburners on his way to the end zone on a 37-yard rush:
Randle has shown before that he can be immensely talented in this league, showing major production out of the backfield in relief duty behind Demarco Murray last season. His 2015 season hasn’t been lucrative in terms of production thus far, but he has the talent to make that happen behind that dominant Cowboys offensive line.
Dallas will need that type of production, too. Even if Weeden plays average, they’ll still need to establish their rushing attack for the offense to flow and to also account for the loss of another weapon in Dez. It’s only been one drive, but all hope may not be lost for the Cowboys just yet.
On the Cowboys’ next drive, Randle punched it in again to give Dallas a 14-0 lead:
