There’s probably a metaphor in here somewhere. Kickoff for the St. Louis Rams’ home contest against the Pittsburgh Steelers was delayed on Sunday due to pyrotechnics setting the field on fire.

Bad pun rundown:

This one is is going to be a scorcher.

The Rams looked hot to trot during intros.

If you can’t handle the heat, Steelers, then get out of the Edward Jones Dome.

Will Roger Goodell rake St. Louis over the coals for getting everyone so hot and bothered?

"Rams turf caught on fire during pregame pyro."

This field is on fiiiiiiire.

How about some hot takes from the Twitter universe.

This whole situation just sucks.

Both teams headed to the locker room while officials cleaned up the ashes of burnt turf.

According to the NFL’s official Twitter feed, kickoff between the Rams and Steelers will be delayed by an extra 10 minutes or so due to the botched pyrotechnics display. First time for everything.

The visiting Steelers and their high-powered offense are favored by one point over the home team Rams. Both clubs are 1-1 on the season heading into this Week 3 matchup.
