Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington will take the field this Sunday after a knee injury has kept him out since Week One

Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington will finally get back on the field this Sunday against the St. Louis Rams barring any setback, according to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.

Ellington has been out since Week One due to a knee injury, but head coach Bruce Arians told ESPN that his injury has almost fully healed.

“He can go straight ahead real fast as always. It’s just the turning and stopping a little bit,” Arians told ESPN.

Ellington is an explosive impact player when fully healthy, but injuries have kept him from playing a full season.

Since his rookie year in 2013, Ellington has failed to reach over 700 yards on the ground, but has gained over 300 in the air each season he’s played. He has 10 combined career touchdowns.

Ellington will most likely head the committee of running backs the Cardinals currently have. Chris Johnson showed last week that he still has it, with 2 touchdowns in an easy win over the 49ers. Arians told Sirius XM NFL Radio on Tuesday that even when Ellington returns, Johnson will still get 15-20 touches a game.

With rookie David Johnson also showing that he can play at the professional level, though his skills may be better suited for special teams, the Cardinals will have a hard time deciding who will get the most touches throughout the season if all goes well.

Currently the Cardinals have scored 126 points in their first three games of the season – an accomplishment worthy of top 5 in the history books. The Cardinals will hope to continue their undefeated success against the above average Ram’s defense this Sunday.
