Saints confirm Drew Brees will start Sunday night vs Cowboys
By Ian O'Brien
Drew Brees will indeed be playing for the New Orleans Saints on Sunday night
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was forced to sit out Week Three with a shoulder injury, and the Saints fell to 0-3. However, the Saints have finally caught a break as the team’s official Twitter account confirmed that their star quarterback will return to the field on Sunday night.
Luke McCown took Brees’ place in Week Three against the Carolina Panthers, but he was unable to complete a comeback as he threw the game-ending interception with just over a minute left in the game.
Brees’ return will be crucial for a team that is desperate for a win, but he will not solve the Saints’ defensive woes.
The Saints are set to face the Dallas Cowboys, who have experienced devastating injuries of their own.
They will continue to move forward with Brandon Weeden as their starting quarterback, and wide receiver Dez Bryant will not be on the field either. Bryant is expected to be out until at least Week Seven with a foot injury, and Tony Romo is still nursing a broken clavicle.
However, the Cowboys still have a solid running back in Joseph Randle, who rushed for three touchdowns against the Atlanta Falcons before the Cowboys defense melted down in the second half.
The Saints are still looking for a bona fide performance from Brees this season, as he has only thrown two touchdown passes while throwing two interceptions.
Brees has not had an easy season, though, as he has lost tight end Jimmy Graham and wide receiver Kenny Stills through trades.
He has also reached age 36, which fuels concerns that he may be on the decline.
