The Cleveland Cavaliers are removing all signs of Tristan Thompson during contract holdout

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Tristan Thompson are in the midst of a pretty nasty contract negotiation that drug on for the entirety of the offseason and has now turned into a holdout as the preseason is underway. As the two sides continue in this financial standoff, the Cavaliers are taking some pretty drastic measures to send a message to the power forward and his camp.

On Friday, Chris Haynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer posted this picture of workers removing Thompson’s likeness from an elevator in Quicken Loans Arena:

This one elevator reportedly wasn’t the only place that was happening either. Thompson’s likeness was essentially scrubbed from The Q on Friday in every way they could find. Moreover, the organization has also removed all of Thompson’s jerseys and other merchandise from the Cavs Team Store, as seen in this screen shot revealing the search results for Thompson:

If the Cavs are already pulling moves like this just a couple of days into the holdout, this could get exceptionally ugly before the season begins. Dan Gilbert has proven before that he has no problems being petty when it comes to matters like this. It’d be nice if the two parties could work this out, but we’re heading towards another Comic Sans letter if this keeps up.
