Dallas Cowboys vs. New Orleans Saints

The Dallas Cowboys have been bit, and bit hard, by the injury bug this season, losing starting quarterback Tony Romo and star receiver Dez Bryant. That leaves Brandon Weeden to try and make up for the absence of the former All-Pro quarterback.

New Orleans is still looking for its first victory of the season as the Saints had to play last week without starting quarterback Drew Brees. The veteran will likely be back this week and guys like receiver Brandin Cooks should see a spike in production.

Keys to Victory

Dallas Cowboys

Without Tony Romo, the run game will be relied upon heavily. Although Weeden didn’t have the worst first start of the season for the Cowboys in week two, passing for 232 yards and completing 84 percent of his passes, he’s still not going to be trusted a whole lot by the coaching staff.

Joseph Randle will need to take the reigns of the offense and lead the way for the Cowboys. New Orleans’ defense is not the best, so in order for Dallas to have a shot to get a big road victory, Randle is going to need his best game of the season.

New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees missed last week’s loss for the Saints, but he will be back, or at least he’s probable, for this matchup with the Cowboys. He’s not playing especially outstanding this season, though, passing for 610 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.

New Orleans always seems to rely on Brees to get the job done and this week will be no different. If the Saints’ defense can step it up against Brandon Weeden’s aerial attack and slow down Joseph Randle, they can win their first game of the year.

Betting Odds

Point Spread: Saints -3
Moneyline: Cowboys +150, Saints -170
O/U: 48

Prediction

New Orleans, searching for its first win of the season, will finally put a full game together as the Drew Brees-Brandin Cooks connection will live up to the hype. Brandon Weeden will struggle against a mediocre Saints defense, but Randle will have a solid game on the ground. In the end, it will be just too much Brees and not enough answers from the Cowboys.

Final Score: Cowboys 20, Saints 28
