D’Angelo Russell hit Julius Randle with a nice pass and Randle finished the play with authority
The Los Angeles Lakers will be hoping to get contributions from their new signings like Roy Hibbert, Lou Williams, and Brandon Bass this season and from veterans like Nick Young and, of course, Kobe Bryant. However, the team’s future undoubtedly lies in the hands of their young stars like D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Julius Randle. Russell and Randle showed off a bit of the future in the Lakers’ preseason opener on Sunday.
The rookie point guard in Russell and the second-year (sort of) forward in Randle ran some pick-and-roll action on the wing during Sunday night’s game and it worked to perfection, leading to a Randle two-handed flush:
If that’s a sign of things to come, the Lakers organization is going to have a bright future for many years with these two young players working and growing together; that two-man game was a thing of beauty.
The Lakers sit as somewhat of an enigma heading into the 2015-16 season as they have talent and they have potential, but no one knows just how good they’re going to be this season. Even if the outlook for the upcoming campaign winds up not being great, the future is looking up in the City of Angels.
