Devon Kennard rips ball away from Charles Clay for interception (Video)
Giants linebacker Devon Kennard recorded his first career interception in impressive fashion
As the New York Giants took on the Buffalo Bills in Week 4, it would have been wise to expect the ball to be thrown all over the field considering the match up between the two worst pass defenses in terms of yardage through the first three games of the season. However, it was an interception by Devon Kennard that stole the show early on.
The second-year Giants linebacker was covering Charles Clay on the left sideline late in the first quarter when Tyrod Taylor threw it his way. Clay went up and got the pass, but Kennard showed incredible awareness and strength as he got underneath Clay and ripped the ball away for an interception:
That turned out to be a huge play for New York as they not only stopped the Bills from starting a drive, but were also able to score quickly off of the turnover. The fact that Kennard’s interception was wildly impressive is just an added bonus.
The Giants defense was expected to be one of their weaknesses coming into this season, but there’s no denying the potential of younger guys like Kennard. If those players can step up like Kennard did on that interception, the Giants could make a run in the NFC East.
