2. Lorenzo Cain performing like an MVP

Lorenzo Cain has undoubtedly been the MVP for the Kansas City Royals in 2015.

The 29-year old center fielder is experiencing the best season of his career, hitting .306 with 16 home runs, 71 RBIs and 28 stolen bases. Cain’s 7.2 wins above replacement (WAR) is by far the best on the team, 2.8 more than third baseman Mike Moustakas, who ranks second.

At the midway point of the season, he had even emerged as a dark horse MVP candidate, although he will not be bringing home the award due to a combination of injury and outstanding performances from Josh Donaldson and Mike Trout.

Regardless, he is going to be a major factor in whether or not Kansas City will be able to make it back to the World Series. In addition to his impressive showing this season, Cain was a star for the Royals during their run to the Fall Classic a year ago. He hit .390 with five RBIs and nine hits during the ALCS and World Series, and was named ALCS MVP.

Cain suffered a bruised right knee in the final days of the regular season, but it does not appear to be anything serious that will hinder him during the playoffs.
