Rams vs. Cardinals, 24-22: Full highlights, final score and more
Rams pull off shocker, hand Cardinals first loss of 2015 NFL season
Jeff Fisher and the St. Louis Rams have shown a propensity for showing up against high-quality opponents over last season and the start of the 2015 campaign and that was no different in Week 4 against the Arizona Cardinals. The Rams caught a big break by forcing the Cards to fumble on the opening kickoff and St. Louis never looked back after that.
The Rams offense was impressive as they stayed away from turning the ball over, even Nick Foles who has shown a tendency to throw some picks from time to time. Moreover, Todd Gurley looked like he was back to full health as he broke off a number of big, impressive runs throughout the day. However, it was the St. Louis defense that really helped seal the upset victory for St. Louis.
Carson Palmer had a big day in terms of yardage and Chris Johnson was relatively effective running the ball, but that’s not all that matters in a game of football and for the St. Louis defense. The Rams defense made big stops in the red zone and when the Cardinals were driving on a number of occasions, including on Arizona’s final drive of the game where the Rams forced a turnover-on-downs. Overall, it was just a hard-nosed team win for the Rams and a big statement in the NFC West.
Three stars
Nick Foles was huge for the Rams in the victory by first not turning the ball over, but by also picking his spots and finding the endzone three times through the air.
Tavon Austin came up huge for St. Louis as well, finally looking like the big-play threat they’d hoped he’d be when they drafted him. He finished the day with six catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
Alec Ogletree was the star of a fantastic defensive performance for the Rams as he led the team with 10 tackles, including two tackles for loss.
Highlights
Odds
The Cardinals were favored by seven points coming into this game and the Rams didn’t care much for that disrespect as the underdogs prevailed. The two times also combined to hit over 43.5 points.
Next Week
The Rams will be on the road again next week as they travel to vaunted Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers.
The Cardinals will look to rebound from their first loss of the season as they’re on the road taking on the currently 0-3 Detroit Lions.
