The Major League Baseball regular season is behind us and ten teams have stepped up to lay claim to the 2015 World Series. Which one is the favorite?

The Major League Baseball season is a long, arduous love affair, both for the fans and for the teams involved. A 162-game marathon where those with not only talent but the tenacity to endure, both injuries and the seemingly unending schedule.

Now, that season is past and the ten strongest horses have stepped up for the final sprint to the finish line.

The league’s second season, the playoffs, officially begin on Tuesday, when the New York Yankees will host the Houston Astros for the American League Wild Card match-up. The winner in the American League will move on to match-up with the Kansas City Royals, who have home field advantage on the American League side.

They will be offset by the Chicago Cubs traveling to Pittsburgh to face the Pirates for the National League Wild Card. The winner of the Pirates and Cubs will face another National League Central rival, the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS.

That fact that all three National League Central teams must dispatch with one another before playing for the National League Championship is rather interesting. The three strongest teams on the National League side are set to run themselves through a gauntlet before potentially meeting up with the Los Angeles Dodgers or New York Mets.

Perhaps that is why none of the three teams with the best records in baseball are currently the favorites to win the World Series. Instead, that luxury lies with the Toronto Blue Jays, a team that has been the best team in baseball since the trade deadline. They are closely followed by the Kansas City Royals and the aforementioned Cardinals.

According to these odds, our 2015 World Series match-up will feature the league’s best pitching staff, the Cardinals, versus the league’s offensive juggernaut, the Blue Jays. It would be an interesting conflict of styles, putting to the test what truly wins games, pitching or offense. In reality, the truth likely lies somewhere in between, and it will be the team that finds a way to do both that takes home the World Series title.

So who are you placing your money on?
