Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia entered himself into rehab on Monday and the knuckle draggers were out in force with hot takes for days.

The sports world was rocked on Monday by the announcement by 6-time All-Star CC Sabathia entering rehab on the eve of the Yankees wild card game against the Houston Astros. It was an announcement that was met with a lot of support from the baseball community but the knuckles were dragging low on Twitter by some fans who had too much paste for breakfast.

It takes special kind of moron to completely misconstrue something like a man trying to get himself better and healthy and turn it into a sports story. The Yankees playoff game is the MacGuffin in all of this — it’s the thing that is part of the plot but doesn’t actually matter or move things forward.

While not everyone was busy huffing lead paint this morning, there was a large sect of fans on Twitter who tried to turn this into something that has anything remotely close to do with baseball.

We will leave you this barn burnning paste eater of comment:

To be fair, there is a very strong contingency of fans out there on Twitter who aren’t window licking their way through this pretty seismic event, and are actually sending their support.

So there’s still hope for us all, humanity.
