Despite the opening disasters of Thursday and Friday, I think I had a pretty good week. Let’s go to the statistics!

If you want to follow along, here are the picks from last week.

More from College Football Odds

First, we will check my points scale. I had eight one pointers, 17 two pointers, 24 three pointers, five four pointers, and four five pointers. The season totals are in parenthesis.

1: 5-3 (15-16)

2: 11-6 (42-34)

3: 12-12 (40-44)

4: 3-2 (22-23)

5: 3-1 (9-8)

I came out at +26 for the week, meaning a surpassed by goal that I set of +16. I am now at +4 for the season. As for the results against the spread, I had my best week since I migrated to Fantasy CPR midway through the 2013 season. I went 34-24 to put my season mark at 127-124. I am in the black on both counts! Confidence can be intoxicating!

Here are the college football week 5 results against the spread. Winners against the spread are in BOLD.

Miami(-6.5) at Cincinnati: MISS! Miami looked awful. AWFUL. Cincinnati dominated them at the point of attack on both sides of the ball.

Temple(-22.5) at Charlotte: HIT! It doesn’t get a whole lot easier for the 49ers. They don’t play UMass, Wyoming, Idaho, or Kansas.

Memphis(-8.5) at South Florida: MISS! The USF defense is better than I gave them credit for.

Connecticut at BYU(-17.5): HIT! Wow, I didn’t think I would need that half. BYU dominated in the second half.

Central Florida at Tulane(-1.5): MISS! Looks like more free beer will be flowing this weekend in Orlando…..

Houston(-7.5) at Tulsa: MISS! For what its worth, I was wrong on both counts. They didn’t hit the over/under either….

South Carolina at Missouri(-3.5): HIT! I told you the Mauk suspension was a blessing for the Tigers. They will have some growing pains with Drew Lock, but they will be a much better team with him able to stretch the field.

Pittsburgh at Virginia Tech(-4.5): HIT! This isn’t your older brother’s Hokie team. They are having issues stopping the run, which is a cardinal sin in Beamer Ball.

Army at Penn State(-24.5): HIT! I never expected Army to keep it this close. There are some really mediocre teams in the Big Ten(14) this year.

Kansas at Iowa State(-16.5): HIT! This cements it. Kansas won’t win a game.

West Virginia at Oklahoma(-6.5): HIT! The Sooners offense is starting to get going. I would still like to see more of Samaje Perine though.

Texas at TCU(-14.5): HIT! It will be Kansas at Texas for the title of Big 12(10)’s worst team!

Michigan(-14.5) at Maryland: HIT! Another dominating performance by the Michigan defense. They might have the best defensive unit in the Big Ten(14), which is saying quite a bit.

Purdue at Michigan State(-21.5): HIT! Sparty was up 21 at halftime, then got bored. It has happened in every game this year. They are 0-5 against the spread. When will it finally cost them? Maybe as soon as October 17th when they get incarcerated at The Big House.

Minnesota at Northwestern(-3.5): HIT! Minnesota might be moving on to the next chapter. Mitch Leidner was benched in the second half, and Demry Croft played fairly well against a good defense.

Iowa at Wisconsin(-6.5): HIT! Iowa only won by four, but they dominated this game.

Louisville at North Carolina State(-4.5): MISS! Well, NC State is now 4-1 against the spread….

Ohio(-2.5) at Akron: MISS! Stupid half…..

Toledo(-6.5) at Ball State: HIT! Easy money! I hope the bettors keep underestimating the Rockets.

Northern Illinois(-2.5) at Central Michigan: MISS! Home field advantage is alive and well in Mount Pleasant, Michigan.

Florida International at Massachusetts(-2.5): HIT! UMass looked really good in this one!

Ohio State(-21.5) at Indiana: HIT! Can you imagine if Indiana hadn’t lost their starting running back and starting quarterback in this game? The Buckeyes are lucky….

Air Force at Navy(-5.5): HIT! Is Navy a dark horse to win the AAC?

Wyoming at Appalachian State(-25.5): HIT! The weather came through for me. It wasn’t Wyoming’s fault.

Bowling Green(-8.5) at Buffalo: MISS! The Bulls are certainly an enigma. Either that or Bowling Green’s defense really is that bad.

Miami(OH) at Kent State(-10.5): HIT! Kent is nowhere near good enough to be a ten point favorite against anyone right now.

Texas Tech vs. Baylor(-17.5): MISS! The Bears made a statement here. This was never close.

Old Dominion at Marshall(-18.5): HIT! ODU really needs to play Charlotte. They do. On October 17. That ought to be an interesting game to pick. I will give you some foreshadowing and say that will be a one point wager.

Western Kentucky(-6.5) at Rice: HIT! The Hilltoppers are starting to get things figured out.

Boston College at Duke(-6.5): HIT! This was an ugly game, and not just because of the rain.

Florida State(-19.5) at Wake Forest: HIT! FSU is just going through the motions until they play someone with a pulse.

North Carolina at Georgia Tech(-7.5): MISS! So much for home field advantage.

Alabama at Georgia(-1.5): MISS! I knew better. Georgia couldn’t have thrown the ball around even if it weren’t raining. Alabama dominated on the defensive side. All is well again in Tuscaloosa.

San Jose State at Auburn(-20.5): MISS! I’m an idiot. And I am also not taking Auburn again. I knew better this time!

Washington State at California(-17.5): HIT! I am a believer in the Cal offense, but that defense is bad. They gave up 44 to Texas!

Kansas State at Oklahoma State(-7.5): HIT! I’m still not sure how good either one of these teams are. On the other hands, K-State only lost by two, yet they played a wide receiver at quarterback for more than half the game because of injuries. Take that for what you will.

East Carolina(-5.5) at SMU: HIT! This was really easy money!

Nebraska(-6.5) at Illinois: MISS! This might be the worst coaching I have seen so far this year. Congratulations, Nebraska!

North Texas at Southern Mississippi(-15.5): HIT! The Eagles aren’t the tomato can of the last two years. They are now more like a pop can.

Mississippi(-6.5) at Florida: MISS! Raise your hand if you saw this coming. Even the biggest Florida fans probably didn’t see this kind of domination happening.

Arkansas at Tennessee(-6.5): MISS! When will I learn…..

Eastern Michigan at LSU(-45.5): MISS! How was I supposed to know that Les Miles was going to use this as nothing more than an extra practice? Not that I blame him….

Vanderbilt at Middle Tennessee State(-2.5): HIT! Vanderbilt is still an SEC team. Sometimes bettors forget that.

Louisiana-Lafayette at Louisiana Tech(-16.5): HIT! Is 29 points big enough?

UNLV at Nevada(-6.5): MISS! So, Nevada’s surprise win at Buffalo last week caused me to miss two picks this week.

Colorado State at Utah State(-4.5): MISS! The Rams are a mess right now.

South Alabama at Troy(-6.5): HIT! More easy money.

Idaho at Arkansas State(-16.5): MISS! Huh? Interesting…..

Georgia Southern(-6.5) at Louisiana-Monroe: HIT! Another one I should have bet more on.

Mississippi State at Texas A&M(-5.5): MISS! I read somewhere that Texas A&M is the most complete team in the SEC West. This game has me thinking that might not be too far off the mark.

Arizona State at UCLA(-13.5): MISS! The Bruins have been terrible at home. Now they are just hoping to play bad enough that they don’t make the Rose Bowl. Anywhere else is a guaranteed win.

Notre Dame at Clemson(-1.5): MISS! Clemson did everything they could to lose this, but they couldn’t quite pull it off. It was almost as bad as the choke job against the Seminoles last year.

UTSA(-3.5) at UTEP: MISS! I knew better here too.

New Mexico State at New Mexico(-12.5): HIT! Rivalry games are weird sometimes. The favored team rarely covers when the spread is double digits.

Oregon(-7.5) at Colorado: HIT! The poor Ralphies just got tired in the fourth quarter.

Hawaii at Boise State(-24.5): MISS! Wow! Another big statement by the Broncos defense.

Fresno State at San Diego State(-7.5): HIT! Even though the Aztecs didn’t really play well.

Arizona at Stanford(-13.5): HIT! Having Solomon really wouldn’t have mattered. That’s how on Stanford was on Saturday.

Once again, the slate was chock full of road warriors. One game was at a neutral site. The road teams were 31-26 against the spread. Not quite as good as that week, but that is to be expected in conference play.

Stay tuned for all of my picks for the week starting on Friday. I will also have some college FanDuel lineups for the weekend tournaments!
